New video up for MerMay 2019 featuring my painting Hello, Luv! I had loads of fun doing something smooth and lively for this challenge, and it made me want to paint more fantasy ocean creatures. The best part of this though, for me, was the watercolor work. I had a good time layering the color and creating depth. I’m particularly proud of the shading on her breasts and lower torso. Her hair was a lot of fun too, getting that texture and shading with various coloration in there.

It’s May, which means it’s Mermay! Partially completed live on witch, tjhis painting was loads of fun from start to finish. This video takes you through the process from sketch to finished watercolor piece.

“Hello, Luv!” is mixed media on Arches hot-presses cotton watercolor paper. Acrylic paint, watercolor, and ink. Measures 10” x 14” with 1mm buffer all sides. Signed, titled, and dated on the back. Coliro Pearlescent watercolors give it a luminous glow while granulated Daniel Smith watercolors add texture..
